Parking car in Gdynia

If you decide to visit Gdynia in your car, you should know that most likely you’ll need to look for a parking slot and pay for leaving your car. The good news is, if you happen to have an electric car – you may park for free in Gdynia.

You may pay parking fees may in parking machines near the parking slot you choose or through mobile apps: SkyCash, CityParkApp. In parking machine you need to prepay for the predicted parking time, while in the Apps you may use the Start/Stop option and pay for the exact time you use the slot.

In both cases, you should enter your plate number. It’s better (though not obligatory) to leave the parking ticket on the deck.

Failing to pay the parking fee may (and most probably will) result in a fine. It’s 150 PLN if you pay within 7 days, 200 PLN if you pay it later.

Gdynia Parking Zones

On the 29th of March 2022, Gdynia introduced two parking zones:

Blue zone – covering most of the city centre, including the area close to the Gdynia Beach. In this zone, the first hour costs 5,5 PLN, the second 6,6 PLN, the third 7,9 PLN and then 5,5 PLN for each hour. Parking fees apply every day from 8 am to 8 pm.

The yellow zone is outside the city centre but covers most of the Gdynia Orlowo district, so if you plan to go there to hike through the cliff you’ll probably find it there. Parking fees in this zone apply Monday to Friday from 8 am until 8 pm. They are a bit lower than in the Blue zone. It’s 3,9 PLN for the first hour, 4,6 PLN for the second, 5,5 PLN for the third and then 3,9 PLN for each hour. Be aware that Orlowo Beach area tends to be crowded on sunny weekends, and it might be difficult to park in this region.

Except for those parking zones, there are also 9 municipal parking in Gdynia that you need to pay for. Each has its own rules for parking the car.
