Getting from Poznan airport to city centre

Poznan Airport (Lawica Airport) is located about 7 kilometres west of Poznan city centre. This is the only airport near Poznan, and although it’s not the biggest airport in Poland, it has been serving more and more passengers every year.  It is conveniently connected with the old town by public transport, but you need to change from bus to tram on the way.

Getting from Poznan Airport to city centre by bus and tram

There is a bus (route 159, direction “Poznan Glowny”) going from Poznan Lawica Airport to the main train station in Poznan every 20-30 minutes. To go to the city centre, you need to get off the bus one stop before the train station (Rondo Kaponiera bus stop). There you need to change to the tram that goes towards the city centre (lines 2, 5, 8, 13). The whole trip should take no more than 45 minutes, so 45 minutes ticket (5 PLN) should be enough. There are two more buses (177, 148), but they leave from the bus stop “Malechowska” located about 300 meters from the airport.

To get from Poznan Airport to city centre at night, you need to get on the bus 242 from the airport (direction Poznan Glowny) and get off one stop before the train station (Rondo Kaponiera bus station). There you need to get on the bus number 231, and leave at the bus stop “Wroclawska”. From here you need to walk about 5 minutes. The whole trip at night should take about 55 minutes, so you need a 90 minutes ticket (7 PLN).

Getting to city centre by taxi

iTaxi is the taxi company recommended by the airport. To take that taxi you need to install their app from Google Store or Apple Store, and use it to book the taxi. Taxi from the airport to the city centre should cost about 20-30 PLN, but always remember to check the price list on the taxi rear door. Uber or FreeNow are usually better and safer, as you always know the price before entering the vehicle. Avoid non-corporate taxis, as most frauds are reported after riding with them.

Staying at the Poznan Airport 

If instead of going to Poznan city centre you need or want to stay at the airport, there are a couple of hotels or homestays around. The nearest: Moxy Poznań Airport and  Comm Hotel Poznań Airport are just in front of the airport. But if you may walk a bit more from the airport or arrange a transfer, look for more options here.

Poznan Airport is located in a residential area – so if you want to buy or eat something at a reasonable price without going far away from, you will find supermarkets and restaurants within walking distance.
